Several names proposed before deciding on …inexplicable… Blue Vinney; Cheesy Wot Skit; Cobweb Mildew; Gibbon Parky; Hung Like a Wooky; Mr Pickup's Elbow; Pinta Head Please; Jury Wig; Flanging Guild; Justifiably Chutney; inexplicably Kevin; inexplicably Bernard and finally …inexplicable…

1998

JANUARY

Dave Marks joins the group after his Open Mic gig with Chris Addison.

FEBRUARY - MARCH

Live gigs at The Gateway Café, Walmgate, York.

"inexplicable are an indeterminate number of comedians of whom four reached last night's somewhat chilly stage. Jim Gillingham has stage presence and was a strong compere, as well as performing sketches with Sam Al-Hamdani; Kris Dyer and Dave Marks are national stand up comedians semi-finalists who battled gamely with the discocertingly lare arrival of the audience. Dave has good comedy timing and Kris a fine repertoire of voices and the gags were often refreshingly unarch".

APRIL

Semi-finals of the BBC New Comedy Awards - Frog and Bucket, Manchester, hosted by Peter Kay. Dyer dubbed "a big girl".

MAY

Kris and Dave: Open Mic Semi-finals in Stoke with Chris Addison.

JUNE

 " n o f u l l s t o p s" - A sell out revue sponsored by Ginster's pasties; featured Demon Jiggers; Pasty Pugilists; Naked Greeks; Bespectacled Geeks; Dancing Vikings; Musical Chaucer and a Bristolian lighting director.

JULY

Sam, Kris and Dave in the "So You Think You're Funny" competition in London.

SEPTEMBER

Dave performs at Jongleurs in Nottingham with Boothby Graffoe. Douglas L. Cole is married to the group after a long engagement.

OCTOBER

Twice weekly broadcast on FM radio, URY 106.6. across North Yorkshire. Seven, one hour shows.

Listener's Poll: Voted "best radio programme" and "worst radio programme".

NOVEMBER

Kris stand-up gig at The Merchant Adventure's Hall, York.

DECEMBER

Rob Lawrence perished after a six month battle with Dutch Elm Disease.

1999

JANUARY

Co-founded and produced regular charity stand-up night - "Stand and Deliver" encouraging new local talent.

FEBRUARY

Recorded and produced cassette: "Let there be ...inexplicable..." - collection of songs and sketches sold in aid of Comic Relief.

MARCH

"Fatter Hippier" : Slick four man comedy show. Sell-out performances in York and gig at Filbert Street, Leicester for 400 people.

MAY

"Stand and Deliver II"

AUGUST

Produced a thirty minute show reel "...inexplicable..." for distribution to production companies. The piece was written, filmed and edited in a week.
